This is a pretty nice little kit for anyone with an old 360. Mine was overheating like crazy, this kit did the trick. My only warning is removing the old x-clamps can be very stressful, you really should watch youtube videos of this step before attempting it yourself, I lightly scratched my board doing so but luckily it didn’t affect it. The xbox tool that they provide is perfect too, anyone that says they’re flimsy isn’t using them right.

Fast delivery and a complete kit as described. I broke one of the teeth on the case open tool, but was able to work around it and get the case open. Instructions were a little confusing at times, but by taking my time I was able to get the Xbox (old style) working again on the first try. Did 2 15 minute heat tests and passed with flying colors. Used the DVD repair parts and had no problem with those. This Xbox was going to the red ring immediately and this kit appears to have fixed the issue. The author recommends using a credit card to spread the thermal compound, but using a single edge razor blade held by a spring type clothes pin worked great for me. I will be ordering a second kit for my daughter’s Xbox.

A friends Xbox 360 died not too long ago (RROD), I convinced him to give it to me after he purchased a new one. After a little searching I came across this repair kit. I was 0 for 3 on fixing RROD Xbox’s to this point but I have never used a kit like this. I have tried heat guns, overheating and an actual reflow machine. The kit is pretty strait forward; it has everything you need to fix GPU, CPU and Video issues. It took about 45 minutes to install on an already disassembled Xbox. Most of the work was getting old thermal compound off the GPU and CPU. The hardest part was keeping all 8 screws in the plate while attaching the heat sinks. I ended up taping the screws as the guide suggests and then sliding the motherboard to the edge of the tape so that one screw is exposed. Repeat for all 8 screws and your good to go, an extra set of hands would make this process much easier. After installation I found that the plate and screws had added enough depth to the motherboard that it would no longer fit into the steel case. I ended up drilling 3/8″ holes where the existing X-clamp screw holes were, they were just big enough to allow the screw heads of the Uniclamp plate stick though. The Xbox booted on the first try and has survived several 5+ hour sessions already. One note though, I used arctic silver thermal paste that I had lying around.

This is a great kit, easy to install and give you a good chance at fixing your RROD Xbox. Nothing is 100%, but your odds are better with a kit like this.
